Start with the full 6-part series on how we prepped, survived and thrived in a pandemic outbreak.

If you prepped correctly then every home invasion movie, every horror movie, every thriller would end in the first minute.

But what fun would that be to watch?

Prepare for the reality of a pandemic while watching horror movies for fun. Besides, these films are good exercise to think through "What would I do?"

My motto has been: it is better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

If you live in a state where gun laws are strict then I feel for you but there are other things you can have prepare and to protect yourself.

Pandemic home protection and self-defense is a must. Your home, your kingdom.

It is your responsibility. You have a right to own a firearm and no one has the right to induce grave bodily harm onto you or your family. Cops show up after the crime has been committed and it is up to you to protect yourself and your family until they get there.

Here are the necessary home protection and self-defense items you must have:

  • Tactical flashlight
  • Firearm and ammo
  • Hardware

Tactical Flashlight

I never leave home without a tactical flashlight. A high lumen flashlight that is also solid enough to strike with if needed is one of the best self-defense tools you must have.

The light will temporarily disorient and blind anyone that tries to come close and it will give you the time you need to escape. Tactical flashlight is not only a self-defense weapon but it is an everyday carry item. I can't tell you how many times I've taken out the trash at the apartment and used it to navigate the dark corners of the complex.

The flashlight I have is no longer sold at Amazon. I wish I would have bought more before they discontinued.

But the light I have my eyes on next is this PowerTac M5 Tactical Flashlight, 1300 Lumens LED Flashlight:

Firearms and Ammo

Someone great once said "Never bring a knife to a gun fight" and they were right.

Owning a handgun and using it are two different things.

Picking out a handgun is also very personality intimate experience. It is like going out on a date and getting naked for the first time.

It is beautiful:

I can't tell you which handgun or shotgun to buy. There are many options and many of them have to do with your own comfort, experience and of course handgun grip. Handgun you choose has to fit your hand and has to feel like an extension of your hand - because it is!

Hardware

Hardware includes things like hammers, axes, pocket knives and machetes.

I can't tell you to use them for self-defense. The law frowns upon this. Besides, nothing said on this blog should ever be taken as advice and you should seek advice of a professional. What I can tell you is all these items are essential hardware tools for your home improvement and garden. They just may help in a self-defense situation if they are within reach. So to make sure these home improvement tools are within reach, we place them everywhere.

Things to Consider for the Future

  • Walkie talkies
  • CB radio
  • Home security system (proximity lights and cameras)
